EXTERIOR DESIGN FEATURES

Programmable Information Display

The LED band wraps around the entire roof edge to display programmable messages from all angles. This message could provide the bus route number, route name and departure time on all sides or scrolling around the bus. It could display a color coded and flashing message to give a warning when the bus is about to depart. Other possibilities include advertisements, public service announcements, news headlines or creative art.

Route maps

Smart glass, transparent LCD displays, or projected displays on the doors provide route maps and schedules that can be read from inside or outside. The displays automatically adjust to lighting conditions and also display relevant information based on GIS coordinates. They could be adjusted in size and zoom to address rider needs. For example, if a deaf or hard of hearing rider or one with low vision is on board, they can provide a large print alternative for announcements.

Low floor access

The low floor design and kneeling features provide one step access or, with ramp deployed, a 1:6 slope to grade or a 1:8 slope to a 6-inch curb. The automated ramp unfolds to provide a uniform slope throughout its length. Side barriers prevent wheelchairs from rolling off. High contrast markings make the ramp surface easy to see. Sensors stop the ramp before contact if an obstacle is in its path. Back up battery power allows deployment if the main power source fails. Manual operation is also possible.

Automated doors

The automated doors are equipped with handrails to assist in climbing the step or ramp. Two options are provided although each version only shows one. Sensors stop the doors before contact if an obstacle is in their path. Driver can communicate with passengers waiting outside through exterior speaker and microphone.

Skylights

Glazing along the perimeter of the bus provides ample natural light inside.
